September is National Recovery Month
Detroit has been chosen as the National Hub Event for the 2012 Recovery Month Celebration. The Michigan Celebrate Recovery Walk and Rally is planned for September 15, 2012 from 2-4 pm in downtown Detroit. The event will include entertainment, speakers, awards and a walk & rally.
Recovery Month promotes the societal benefits of prevention, treatment, and recovery for substance use and mental disorders, celebrates people in recovery, lauds the contributions of treatment and service providers, and promotes the message that recovery in all its forms is possible. Recovery Month spreads the positive message that behavioral health is essential to overall health, that prevention works, treatment is effective and people can and do recover.

What We Do:
- Educate community members about the consequences of underage drinking and other drug use and alcohol/drug related traffic crashes and fatalities
- Inform community, especially parents, of new drug trends, including the rise of prescription drug use among teens.
- Collaborate with other agencies, organizations and grass-root efforts to prevent and reduce substance abuse.
- Network with community officials
- Educate alcohol and tobacco vendors
- Research city and national policies related to underage drinking
- Participate in community service
